Patna: Mahatma Gandhi Central University has announced that its research scholar Dr. Baikunth Kumar Yadav has been selected as a scientist for an Indian Council of Medical Research project at AIIMS Deoghar. The achievement has been welcomed by the university community, which described it as an important moment for the institution’s research efforts and academic reputation. The selection also reflects the growing participation of young scholars in national-level medical research projects that aim to address pressing health issues in India.
Dr. Yadav completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Pranveer Singh. During his doctoral work, he focused on research that connected health systems and social development. His appointment to the project is seen as recognition of his academic work and the mentorship he received during his time at the university. Faculty members said such achievements show how universities are contributing to real-world scientific work beyond classrooms and campuses.
At AIIMS Deoghar, Dr. Yadav will work on an Indian Council of Medical Research project titled Telepathology Added Health Information System (THIS) for Early Diagnosis of Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis (EPTB). The project aims to make diagnosis of extrapulmonary tuberculosis easier and faster by using technology to connect medical experts with healthcare centres. Since this form of tuberculosis affects parts of the body other than the lungs, it is often harder to identify in its early stages, causing delays in treatment. Researchers believe digital systems such as telepathology can help reduce these delays and improve outcomes for patients.
The university said the appointment is a sign of the research-oriented environment being developed at Mahatma Gandhi Central University. Teachers, researchers and fellow scholars have congratulated Dr. Yadav and wished him success in the new role.
