Patna: The Bihar government carried out a major reshuffle in the police department late on Saturday night, transferring 54 Bihar Police Service officers of DSP rank as part of an effort to strengthen law and order and enhance administrative efficiency across the state.
According to an official notification issued by the Home Department, several officers have been assigned new responsibilities in:
- Cyber Crime units
- the Economic Offences Unit (EOU)
- Traffic Police
- the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
- the Prohibition and State Excise Control Bureau
Key Transfers Across Police Units
Under the new postings:
- Md. Ali Ansari has been transferred from Assistant Inspector General of Police (Railways) to Assistant Inspector General of Police (Traffic).
- Ashfaq Ansari has been shifted from the Vigilance Investigation Bureau to serve as Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Prohibition and State Excise Control Bureau, Patna.
- Ashish Kumar Singh has been appointed Traffic DSP for Patna.
- Manoj Ram has been moved from Vaishali to the CID in Patna.
- Vandana Mukherjee has been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police in the Prohibition and State Excise Control Bureau.

Cybercrime Units Receive Fresh Appointments
The reshuffle also focused heavily on cybercrime-related postings amid growing concerns over online fraud and digital offences.
Under the new arrangements:
- Shahnawaz Akhtar has been posted from Rohtas to the Cyber Crime Unit in Nawada.
- Abdur Rahman Danish has been transferred from Saran to the Cyber Crime Unit in Gaya.
- Abhishek Kumar has been shifted from Aurangabad to serve as Cyber Crime DSP in Jamui.
- Md. Asif Alam has been appointed Cyber Crime DSP for Katihar.
EOU And CID Strengthened
The government also made several appointments in the Economic Offences Unit and CID.
These include:
- Mahesh Chaudhary as DSP (EOU)
- Nilabh Krishna as Senior DSP (EOU)
- Kamlesh Kumar as Senior DSP in the CID’s Weaker Sections wing
- Ashok Kumar, Devendra Prasad and Anurag Kumar in important EOU responsibilities
Meanwhile, Dheeraj Kumar has been appointed SDPO for Imamganj subdivision in Gaya district, and Dayanand Kumar has been posted as Traffic DSP for Kaimur.
Revenue Department Also Sees Administrative Changes
Alongside the police reshuffle, the state government also transferred 34 officers in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department.
Under the revised structure:
- officers posted at the sub-divisional level will now be designated as Sub-Divisional Revenue Officers
- they will also be vested with the powers of a DCLR by the General Administration Department
Amarnath Chaudhary has been appointed District Land Acquisition Officer for Araria district.
Officials said the reshuffle was aimed at improving administrative coordination, expediting governance processes and strengthening policing and revenue administration across Bihar.
