Patna: North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) have announced a temporary suspension of all online consumer services due to a scheduled migration to a new billing software system.
Service Suspension Window
According to an officials, all online services will remain unavailable from 7:00 PM on May 20, 2026, to 8:00 AM on May 22, 2026.
The companies stated that the downtime is required for a technical migration aimed at upgrading digital infrastructure and improving consumer services.
Affected Consumer Services
During the suspension period, consumers will not be able to access key online facilities, including electricity bill payments, smart prepaid meter recharges, new connection applications, load and name changes, and bill correction services.
Officials said the temporary disruption is part of a planned system upgrade and is necessary to ensure a smoother transition to the new platform.
Smart Meter Supply Assurance
The distribution companies clarified that electricity supply for smart meter consumers will continue uninterrupted during the migration period.
Even if recharge services are not used during this time, power supply will not be affected, they added.
Advisory to Consumers
NBPDCL and SBPDCL have urged consumers to complete pending bill payments and smart prepaid recharges before the scheduled downtime to avoid inconvenience.
They have also appealed for cooperation, noting that the transition is aimed at enhancing service efficiency and digital security.
Post-Migration Services
The companies said that after completion of the migration process, consumers will benefit from improved, faster, and more secure digital services.
They acknowledged the temporary inconvenience and assured that the upgraded system is intended to provide a more streamlined user experience going forward.
