Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Patna and Vaishali districts, where rising water levels of the Ganga river have led to widespread inundation. Following the survey, he issued instructions to officials to take all necessary precautions and measures to address the situation.
The Chief Minister directed the Water Resources Department to stay fully alert and continuously monitor areas at risk, particularly low-lying regions where water levels are rising. He urged district magistrates and engineers to be vigilant and asked senior officials to remain on-site to manage the evolving flood conditions.
The Disaster Management Department was instructed to ensure that all necessary support is provided to affected communities, in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Chief Minister emphasized that strict adherence to the SOP is crucial, with all districts and departments expected to follow the issued guidelines.
The Chief Minister also called for comprehensive arrangements, including boat services, the provision of polythene sheets, medicines, animal feed, relief supplies, dry rations, and the operation of community kitchens and flood shelters. He stressed that district emergency operation centers must be prepared to deliver immediate relief to affected populations.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, and Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar were present during the inspection.
