Patna: Reports of gunfire near Khan Global Studies (KGS) in Patna triggered concern and widespread discussion on social media late Tuesday night, but police have said their investigation has so far found no evidence to support claims that shots were fired during the incident.
The controversy emerged after a group allegedly attacked the coaching institute’s premises within the jurisdiction of Kadamkuan police station, pelting stones and damaging property. Soon after news of the attack spread, claims began circulating online that gunfire had also taken place.
However, police officials said preliminary findings do not corroborate those reports.
Claims Of Firing Under Scrutiny
According to police, information regarding the attack was received at around 10.10pm on June 2. Officers rushed to the scene after reports that a group had vandalised the coaching institute by throwing stones and bricks.
As investigators began examining CCTV footage and collecting statements from witnesses, attention quickly shifted to allegations that firearms had been used during the incident.
Police officials said that despite extensive discussion on social media, no evidence of firing has emerged from the investigation so far.
“The CCTV footage examined until now and other available evidence have not established that any shots were fired,” officials said.

Khan Sir Clarifies Earlier Remarks
Khan Sir later sought to clarify his initial remarks regarding reports of gunfire during the incident, saying his comments were made amid confusion and based on information available at the time.
He said the situation at the coaching institute was highly tense immediately after the attack, and that he had responded to questions based on accounts provided by security personnel and others present at the scene.
“As the facts emerged and the situation became clearer, a more accurate picture of the incident was established,” he said.
FIR Makes No Mention Of Gunfire
An FIR lodged on behalf of Khan Global Studies alleges that the attack was carried out by individuals linked to a rival coaching institute.
However, police noted that the complaint does not contain any specific allegation regarding firing or the use of firearms.
Investigators said the case currently centres on allegations of vandalism, stone-pelting and damage to property, while all other claims continue to be verified.
CCTV Footage Provides Key Leads
Police said CCTV footage from the area has helped identify a group of approximately 15 to 20 individuals allegedly involved in the attack.
Preliminary findings suggest that some of the accused may be associated with Gyan Bindu coaching institute, though police have stressed that the investigation is still ongoing.
Raids are being conducted to identify and apprehend those involved.
Khan Sir Seeks Strict Action
Commenting on the incident, educator Khan Sir described the attack as an attempt to disrupt the educational atmosphere.
He said an injured security guard had repeatedly claimed that the attackers were linked to a neighbouring coaching institute and that this information had been shared with police.
Khan Sir also expressed confidence that the accused would soon be identified, noting that several individuals were clearly visible in CCTV footage.
He urged the administration to take strict action against those responsible and ensure that educational institutions are protected from such incidents in the future.
