Patna: An ITBP officer died at a private hospital in Patna’s Pataliputra Industrial Area on Sunday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Singh, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. He was serving as a sub-inspector in the telecommunications wing of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and was currently posted in Jalalpur, Saran district.
Officer was undergoing medical treatment
According to officials, Singh had been admitted for medical treatment after experiencing health-related issues. He was initially treated at a hospital in Phulwari Sharif before being referred to another private healthcare facility in Patna.
Sources said security personnel had been assigned to assist and monitor him during his hospital stay.
Incident under investigation
Hospital authorities informed police after the incident, following which officers reached the site and began an inquiry.
Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Investigators said they are examining all available evidence and have not yet reached a final conclusion regarding the circumstances of the death.
Family informed
Police officials said the deceased’s family has been informed.
Investigators are also collecting information regarding his medical condition and treatment history during his stay at the hospital. Authorities said further details would emerge after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
Police await forensic findings
Officials stated that the inquiry remains ongoing and that conclusions regarding the cause and circumstances of death will be based on medical and forensic findings.
The police have appealed for restraint in speculation until the investigation is completed.
