CM Nitish Kumar Calls for Timely Completion of Bihar Land Survey and Settlement Program

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has urged officials to ensure the timely completion of the Bihar Special (land) Survey and Settlement Program during a review meeting held on Saturday. The meeting, attended by senior officials, focused on the progress of the state’s special survey and settlement efforts, which aim to streamline land records and reduce land disputes.

During the review, Deepak Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, briefed the Chief Minister on the phased implementation of the program. He informed that public awareness campaigns and local camps are being organised to address issues related to the survey work. The CM emphasised the need for efficiency and instructed officials to ensure that landholders do not face unnecessary difficulties during the process. He suggested extending the time for landholders to upload documents to avoid overcrowding in offices.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of addressing pending cases of mutation and corrections in zonal offices swiftly. He called for a parallel approach in processing documents and resolving land records, ensuring that mutation and correction work continues without delay. Nitish also directed that the survey process be widely publicised and personnel adequately deputed at the zonal level.

Recognising the link between land disputes and criminal incidents in the state, Nitish gave strict instructions for the survey work to be completed promptly. He emphasised the need for updated and digitised land records, ensuring landholders have easy access to their records. Regular updates on the progress of the program are to be communicated to the public through proper publicity.

Key officials present at the meeting included Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, and Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, among others.
