Patna: BJP National President JP Nadda made a brief one-day visit to Bihar on Saturday, where he was greeted with a grand welcome at the airport by party leaders. After his arrival, Nadda went directly to Saptamatru before proceeding to the BJP state office.

At the office, Nadda held a 45-minute meeting with the party’s MPs and MLAs. The discussion centred on the ongoing membership campaign, with an emphasis on expanding the party’s base in Bihar. After the meeting, attendees reported that the focus was on strategies to increase membership across the state.

During the visit, Nadda also took part in a special event under the Seva Saptah initiative, where he honoured international Paralympic athletes. In his address, Nadda highlighted the growing importance of sports in India, attributing the shift in focus to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He noted that before PM Modi’s tenure, sports, including the Olympics, were not given much priority. However, since taking office, PM Modi has introduced special plans for the Olympics and helped bring Paralympic sports into the mainstream, personally encouraging and supporting athletes.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, senior party leader Ashwini Choubey, MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary were among the prominent figures in attendance at the event.

According to party sources, approximately 2.5 million people have joined the BJP in Bihar between September 4 and September 26, marking one of the largest membership drives in the country. However, no official numbers have been released yet. The BJP has set an ambitious target of enrolling 10 million new members in the state.

This visit follows Nadda’s earlier trip to Bihar on September 7, during which he spent two days in the state. During that time, he held a meeting with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and inaugurated several super-speciality hospitals in Patna, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur. He also met with party officials to further assess party activities and goals in the region.

Nadda’s latest visit, lasting four hours, continues the BJP’s push to strengthen its presence in Bihar ahead of upcoming elections.
