Climate Change in Focus at Patna Event Led by Forest Conservation Chief
Patna: An awareness programme titled Beyond the Heat: Understanding and Combating Climate Change was organised in Patna, under the chairmanship of Dr K Ganesh Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests and State Nodal Officer (Climate Change), Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change. The event, focusing on clean air initiatives, aimed to raise awareness of the urgent need to address the climate crisis.
A poster competition for students from colleges across Patna was also part of the programme. Bihar Veterinary College took first place, with Amity University and Bihar National College securing second and third positions respectively. Bharat Jyoti, Chairman of the Bihar State Biodiversity Board and the event’s chief guest, urged students to take an active role in tackling climate challenges.
The event featured a lecture by Professor Pradhan Parth Sarathi from the Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, who discussed the impact of climate change on the eastern Ganga Plain. Contributions from experts in the field, including biodiversity specialist Jyotirmoy Jena and wetland expert Dr Saroja Barik, provided further insights into the wide-ranging effects of climate change.
