Bihar Weather Update: No Rain Expected, Clear Skies to Prevail During Durga Puja and Dussehra

Patna: The weather in Bihar is expected to remain normal today, with no rain forecast in any district, according to the Meteorological Department. The next 4 to 5 days are likely to see no significant changes in temperature, though several districts, including Patna, may experience a rise in temperature due to strong sunlight.

While the monsoon remains active in parts of the state due to easterly winds, resulting in light rain in some areas, the department assured that these rains will not disrupt Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations. The weather is expected to stay clear in Patna on Dussehra, although eastern regions of Bihar might experience light drizzle over the next two days.

On Thursday, 36.4 mm of rainfall was recorded in Shivaji Nagar, Samastipur, but no significant rain was reported elsewhere in the state. The highest temperature was recorded in Madhubani at 36.5°C, while the lowest was in Saharsa at 30.5°C. From June 1 to September 30, the state received 798.3 mm of rainfall.

Meteorologist SK Patel reported that a low-pressure system has formed over the Arabian Sea near the Karnataka-Goa coast, causing cloud formation in Bihar’s eastern regions. The southwest monsoon is gradually retreating, though it has not completely withdrawn from the state. Winds are shifting to the northwest, leading to a slight increase in daytime temperatures by 1-2°C and a drop in nighttime temperatures.

In response to the recent floods, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday distributed Rs 7,000 each to 3.21 lakh flood-affected families across 18 districts. A total of Rs 225.25 crore was transferred directly to the accounts of the affected families via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). This is in addition to the Rs 306.97 crore already sent to 4.38 lakh families previously.

During the event, the Chief Minister assured that compensation for crop losses caused by the floods would be provided before Diwali. He emphasized the government’s commitment to assisting disaster victims and urged the Agriculture Department to expedite the disbursement process.

Agriculture Department Special Secretary Virendra Prasad Yadav informed that crop losses from the first phase of floods amounted to Rs 229 crore, while the second phase resulted in damages worth Rs 261 crore. The government has already received Rs 229 crore to address the losses from the first phase.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Santosh Kumar Suman, Vice President of the State Disaster Management Authority Dr. Uday Kant Mishra, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, and Dr. S. Siddharth, among others, attended the meeting.

Madhubani recorded the highest temperature on Thursday at 36.5°C, followed by Patna, which registered 34.2°C.
