Patna: Four armed men allegedly looted jewellery worth Rs 20–25 lakh from a jewellery shop in Patna district’s Barh subdivision on Sunday evening before fleeing the scene after opening fire, police said.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Samiyagarh Police Station, where the assailants reportedly targeted Maa Ambe Jewellers at around 7 pm.
Miscreants Posed As Customers
According to preliminary information, the four men arrived at the shop on two motorcycles and initially posed as customers interested in purchasing jewellery.
As the shopkeeper began showing the ornaments, the men allegedly pulled out firearms, threatened those present and looted jewellery from the shop.
Police said the accused also assaulted people inside the shop during the robbery.
Shop Owner Estimates Loss At Rs 20–25 Lakh
Shop owner Chandan Kumar alleged that the robbers escaped with jewellery worth between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.
He also claimed that the assailants fired shots while fleeing, creating panic in the area.
Police Examine CCTV Footage
After being informed of the incident, personnel from Samiyagarh Police Station reached the spot and began an investigation.
Barh SDPO Ramkrishna also visited the scene to review the situation.
Police said CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined to identify the suspects, while raids are underway to trace and arrest those involved.
Officials said the case is being investigated from all angles.
