Bihar's Environment and Forest Department Reviews Progress and Announces Key Initiatives

Patna: A review meeting of the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bihar, was conducted in the Aranya Bhawan auditorium under the leadership of Minister Dr. Prem Kumar. The meeting brought together departmental officers to assess the progress of various schemes and initiatives within the department.

Among the major decisions made, the department will reward employees, officials, and farmers who have demonstrated innovation and excellence in their work. A nodal officer will be appointed at the divisional level to compile a list of nominees, which must be submitted by 20 October. Additionally, the meeting addressed the need for expedited compensation processes for farmers affected by floods in North Bihar.

The department also committed to recognizing individuals engaged in environmental protection efforts across different districts. Plans were discussed to ensure timely incentive payments under the Agro Forestry Scheme to benefit the maximum number of farmers. Furthermore, initiatives to enhance greenery on the state’s hills through seed ball spraying will continue, with standard estimates being prepared for this endeavor.

In a push for dolphin conservation, the meeting emphasized the restoration of laboratory equipment and the allocation of manpower at the National Dolphin Research Center. Financial management strategies were outlined to ensure the efficient utilization of funds received under both non-plan and state plan categories. The maintenance of departmental buildings, including Aranya Bhawan and district offices, was also prioritized.

Finally, to improve public awareness, the schemes and works of the Forest Department will be promoted through hoardings and wall paintings at the state’s entry points. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, with the Minister instructing officials to effectively implement the department’s initiatives.
