Patna Municipal Corporation Pursues Rs 123 Crore in Unpaid Taxes, Penalties to Apply
Patna, 15th October 2023: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is intensifying its efforts to recover holding tax arrears, sending demand letters to all wards. The total outstanding amount, comprising both government and private properties, stands at about Rs 123 crore.
The Corporation has identified both public and private establishments that have yet to pay substantial amounts in property tax. The breakdown is as follows:
- Government Property Dues: Rs 44.18 crores from 2,283 institutes
- Non-Government Property Dues: Rs 79.67 crores from 1,39,764 defaulters
Top Government Defaulters
- Education Department: Rs 15.9 crore
- Forest Environment and Climate Change Department: Rs 6.46 crore
- Building Construction Department: Rs 3.16 crore
- CGST: Rs 3.02 crore
- Health Department: Rs 1.71 crore
Top Private Defaulters
- Virendra Kumar: Rs 52.8 lakh
- Land C Associate Managing Partner Deepak Kumar: Rs 21.79 lakh
- Kumud Vishal: Rs 19.58 lakh
- Durga Sattu Chuda Industry: Rs 15.57 lakh
- Sukant Kumar Mishra: Rs 15.22 lakh
These outstanding amounts include both property tax and solid waste management charges. A 1.5% penalty will be applied to those who have not yet paid their property taxes starting October 1, escalating monthly thereafter.
Patna Municipal Corporation offers the option of online tax payment through various platforms under the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), including Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm, without any additional service charges. The Corporation also encourages residents to pay their taxes online via the official website (http://pmcptax.bihar.gov.in), QR code portals, and zonal and headquarters counters.
