Medical Students Protest in Bhagalpur, Hunger Strike Gains IMA Support

Bhagalpur: Protests over the brutal murder of a medical student in West Bengal have intensified, with students from Bhagalpur’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH) joining the hunger strike. Doctors affiliated with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have also extended their support, taking part in a one-day mass leave.

Despite the protests, the hospital’s OPD and emergency services continue to function without disruption. Junior doctors involved in the strike are demanding immediate arrests and strict action against those responsible for the crime, urging both the Bengal and central governments to act.

Frustration among the medical community is mounting, with protesters questioning the delay in justice for their colleague. Several doctors, including Dr. Saurav Kumar, Dr. Aditya Kumar, Dr. Vivek, and Dr. Aamir, have participated in the hunger strike to amplify the demands for accountability.

The protestors remain firm, emphasizing that justice must be delivered swiftly. While the strike is symbolic, the sentiment across medical institutions remains strong, as both students and practicing doctors unite to push for concrete action in the case.
