NOC received for laying CNG and PNG pipelines along NH in Patna

Patna: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for laying CNG and PNG pipelines from Zeromile to Mithapur along the National Highway. Pipeline laying work will begin this month, and gas supply is expected to commence in Patna City and Fatuha Industrial Area within six months. Out of 28 km, 23 km of pipelines have already been laid, with the remaining 5 km, from Zeromile to Ramlakhan Path, set to be completed soon.

Once this final stretch is laid, PNG supply will flow from Naubatpur to Fatuha Industrial Area, reaching both homes and factories. The Bihar State Pollution Control Board has urged industries to shift to PNG or CNG, and the ongoing pipeline expansion in Fatuha follows the completion of a similar project in the Patliputra Industrial Area. This transition is expected to significantly reduce harmful emissions from more than 120 factories in these regions.

The pipeline, which runs through areas including Phulwari, Anisabad Golambar, and Zeromile, has even been laid inside the Punpun river at a depth of 10 feet underground. Factories will receive PNG at higher pressure than residential supply, necessitating the use of steel pipes. This shift to PNG is expected to lower daily operational costs for factories, providing an eco-friendly and cost-effective energy alternative.
