Patna: The Bihar government has requested Rs 1187 crore from the Central government to cover the outstanding expenses related to flood relief work. Officials from the Water Resources Department recently visited Delhi to submit a report detailing the expenditure incurred this year, along with the outstanding amount. This funding is sought under the Flood Management Program (FMP), through which the Center provides financial assistance for flood protection measures.  Bihar has already spent Rs 148 crore on flood mitigation efforts near the Nepal border, for which reimbursement from the Center has also been requested. After recent rains in Nepal caused flooding in 18 districts of Bihar, embankments along the Kosi, Gandak, and Bagmati rivers were damaged. The state government has sought additional support from the Center to raise embankment heights and reinforce them with stones, with a detailed project report (DPR) set to be prepared by October 25.
