Patna: A special investigation campaign targeting minors driving three-wheelers and other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act was conducted across all districts, including Patna. During this drive, action was taken against 913 vehicles, resulting in 128 three-wheelers being seized, and 404 drivers were fined for various violations, including driving without a valid license.
The campaign was conducted by the District Transport Officer, Additional District Transport Officer, MVI, and ESI teams under the direction of Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal. In particular, 22 minors were fined for driving without proper permits, and steps were taken to confiscate their vehicles. The Transport Secretary stated that driving by minors poses a serious risk not only to themselves but also to other road users, and strict action will be continued to curb this issue. He emphasized that the goal of this campaign is to promote road safety and prevent accidents caused by underage and unlicensed drivers.
In addition to targeting minors, the campaign also focused on increasing helmet usage among two-wheeler drivers. On Thursday, 493 two-wheeler drivers were penalized for not wearing helmets. The authorities pointed out that riding without a helmet increases the risk of fatal head injuries, which is why helmet enforcement has been intensified. Helmets are crucial for ensuring the safety of riders, and strict checks will continue to raise awareness about their importance.
The government plans to maintain its strict stance on these violations. Transport Secretary Agarwal indicated that further drives will be conducted in the future to enhance road safety. The campaign also aims to encourage safe driving habits and reduce the number of accidents, especially those involving minors.
The state is determined to take all necessary measures to protect the public on the roads and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
