Patna: The Bihar government will organise the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign across the state from August 9 to 17, aiming to encourage the hoisting of the national flag at homes and institutions while promoting public participation in the nationwide initiative.

According to a press release issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Department (Chief Secretary’s Cell) on August 3, the campaign will be implemented by the Art, Culture and Youth Department. The initiative also marks the 150th year of ‘Vande Mataram’ and seeks to ensure compliance with the Flag Code of India.

Over 21 Lakh National Flags To Be Procured

To support the campaign, the state government has made financial provisions for the procurement and distribution of national flags across Bihar.

Each of the state’s 534 blocks will receive Rs 1 lakh to procure approximately 4,000 national flags, taking the total availability to around 21.36 lakh flags.

The flags will be distributed through Gram Panchayats, Jeevika Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and other local institutions to maximise household coverage.

Statewide Events Planned

The government has planned a series of activities at the state and district levels to increase public participation during the campaign.

These include door-to-door flag distribution drives, Tiranga Yatras, bike and bicycle rallies, mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’, exhibitions, Tiranga Rangoli competitions, cultural programmes, illumination of government buildings in the colours of the Tricolour, and a ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ campaign.

Chief Secretary Issues Directions To Districts

Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has directed all District Magistrates to prepare block and panchayat-level plans for the timely procurement and distribution of flags through Block Development Officers.

District administrations have also been instructed to conduct daily reviews of flag distribution and campaign activities, while ensuring participation from elected representatives, voluntary organisations, civil society groups, Jeevika, PACS, educational institutions, NCC, NSS, Mera Yuva Bharat, sports clubs and trade associations.

August 12 Tiranga Yatra And Border Area Focus

The Chief Secretary has instructed district administrations to organise a grand Tiranga Yatra on August 12 with participation from all sections of society.

Special emphasis has also been placed on achieving 100 per cent flag hoisting in households located near the international border. Districts have been directed to submit regular progress reports to the department throughout the campaign.

Government Calls For Mass Participation

In the release, Pratyaya Amrit said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign should become a people’s movement rather than remain solely a government programme.

He directed District Magistrates to ensure that the national flag is hoisted with due respect at every household, government office, school and public institution across Bihar.
