Patna: The Bihar Museum will celebrate its Foundation Day on August 7 with a series of special exhibitions highlighting Indian art and cultural heritage, including the display of 101 rare Mithila paintings recently brought back from the United States.
The celebrations will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
Bihar Museum To Host Contemporary Art Exhibition
One of the highlights of the celebrations will be ‘Kagaz Ki Kashti: Retracing Memories of Boyhood’, a special exhibition by artist Rajesh Ram.
The exhibition will feature a curated collection of the artist’s sculptures and artworks, reflecting memories and experiences from childhood. Rajesh Ram will also be present to interact with visitors and explain the ideas, techniques and creative process behind his work.
According to museum officials, another exhibition featuring selected works by several renowned Indian artists will also be organised as part of the Foundation Day celebrations.
These exhibitions will remain open to visitors at the Bihar Museum from August 7 to October 6.
Patna Museum To Showcase Rare Mithila Paintings
Meanwhile, the Patna Museum will host ‘The Timeless Art of Mithila’, an exhibition showcasing 101 rare Mithila paintings that have been brought back to Bihar from the United States.
The exhibition will run from August 7 to September 20.
According to the museum administration, the paintings were taken to the US during the 1970s and have now returned to Bihar, where they will be displayed for the public.
Celebrating Bihar’s Artistic Heritage
Ashok Kumar Sinha, Additional Director of the Bihar Museum, said the exhibitions aim to connect visitors with India’s rich artistic and cultural traditions while showcasing works by both established and contemporary artists.
The Foundation Day programme is expected to draw artists, historians, students and art enthusiasts, offering visitors an opportunity to explore rare collections and engage directly with artists through interactive sessions.
