Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday handed appointment letters to 2,027 candidates selected through the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Combined Competitive Examination, urging the newly appointed officers to treat government service as a responsibility towards citizens.
Choudhary handed the first appointment letter to Shashank Gaurav, who secured the second position in the final examination. Addressing the newly appointed officers, the Chief Minister emphasised the impact that administrative decisions can have on ordinary families.
‘Every File You Sign Can Benefit A Family’
Choudhary told the officers that their responsibilities would extend beyond their individual careers.
He said every file signed by an officer could potentially benefit a family and urged them to maintain honesty in public service. According to the Chief Minister, integrity among government officials would contribute to Bihar’s development.
What The 70th BPSC Results Show
A total of 2,027 candidates were selected through the recruitment process, while eight posts remained vacant, according to the examination details.
The vacancies could not be filled because suitable candidates from the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category were not available.
Shraddha Pandey from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, secured the first position with 593 marks. Shashank Gaurav and Ayush Vijoy jointly secured the second and third positions with 592 marks, with their rankings determined by essay scores.
Women Among Top Performers
Women recorded a strong performance in the final selection.
According to the results, 45 women featured among the top 100 candidates, while around 745 women were among the 2,027 successful candidates.
The selection also included candidates from outside Bihar, with 333 selected candidates belonging to other states.
BPSC 70th Cut-Off
The final cut-off for the unreserved category was 528 marks, while the cut-off for the Scheduled Caste (SC) category was 493 marks.
The final result was declared around 18 months after the preliminary examination. The BPSC released the list of successful candidates on June 20.
Deputy CM Vijendra Yadav Addresses New Officers
Deputy Chief Minister Vijendra Yadav also attended the appointment letter distribution programme.
Yadav spoke about changes in Bihar’s employment landscape over the years and said the state had seen an expansion in government recruitment.
He said the new officers would now have a role in delivering public services and implementing government policies at the administrative level.
Responsibility Begins With Appointment
The appointment of the 2,027 officers marks the completion of another major recruitment cycle through the BPSC.
As the selected candidates enter government service, the message from the state leadership focused on maintaining integrity, accountability and responsiveness in administrative decision-making.
