Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar has launched searches at multiple premises linked to Ajay Kumar Singh, Deputy Director of the Bihar Open Schooling and Examination Board, over alleged possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches are being conducted at two locations in Patna and at Singh’s ancestral residence in Begusarai. The EOU has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Assets Under Investigation
According to the EOU, Singh is alleged to have accumulated assets worth Rs 3,43,78,300, which are 90.04 per cent higher than his known sources of income.
During the searches, officials reportedly recovered several bundles of Rs 500 currency notes and jewellery from his Patna residence.
Searches At Multiple Locations
EOU teams are searching Chandratara Bhavan on Akashvani Road in Khajpura and the office of the Bihar Open Schooling and Examination Board in Mithapur.
A separate team has also reached Singh’s ancestral residence in the Sahebpur Kamal police station area of Begusarai.
The simultaneous searches are being conducted under the supervision of officers of DSP rank. The operations were underway at the time of reporting.
The case and searches relate to allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to Singh’s known sources of income. Further details are expected to emerge after the search operations are completed.
