Purnia: Shubham Anand from Purnia completed the Introduction to Match Officiating (L-1) training at a two-day Bihar State Rugby Football Technical Seminar held in Biharsharif on August 13 and 14.
The training was conducted under the guidance of the Indian Rugby Football Union and focused on the technical aspects of rugby, including rules, match officiating, referee responsibilities and the role of technical officials.
Theory And Practical Training
During the seminar, Anand received both theoretical and practical training on rugby rules and match conduct.
The sessions covered the process of officiating matches, the responsibilities of referees and technical officials, and key aspects involved in conducting a rugby match.
Only Participant From Seemanchal
Anand was the only participant from the entire Seemanchal region to undergo the L-1 match officiating training at the seminar.
Local rugby players and sports enthusiasts described the achievement as significant for the region, saying the technical training could help strengthen the understanding and conduct of rugby matches in the area.
From Banmankhi To Rugby Technical Training
Anand is a native of Harimudhi village under Banmankhi block in Purnia district. He currently lives in Jhiltola, Purnia, and has been associated with sports and youth activities.
His participation in technical training is expected to give him a stronger understanding of rugby’s rules and the responsibilities involved in match officiating.
Scope For Young Players
The achievement has generated interest among rugby players and sports enthusiasts in Purnia, with local players viewing technical training as an avenue for young people to explore roles beyond playing the sport.
Officials and those associated with rugby in the region hope Anand’s continued involvement in match officiating will contribute to strengthening the technical side of rugby in Seemanchal.
