Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary directed the Education Department to strengthen the academic environment in the state’s Model Schools (Saraswati Vidya Niketan), with a focus on teaching quality, student facilities and holistic development.
Choudhary issued the directions during a review meeting of the Education Department at the ‘Sankalp’ auditorium at the Public Servants’ Residence in Patna.
Regular Inspections Of Model Schools
The chief minister directed officials to regularly review and inspect academic systems, teacher availability, student attendance and teaching and learning standards in Model Schools.
He also called for effective implementation of the ‘One Officer-One Model School’ initiative, under which officials will be directly linked with individual schools to facilitate monitoring and ensure timely resolution of issues.
The chief minister further directed officials to conduct surprise inspections and establish reporting mechanisms for academic activities and daily operations at both headquarters and district levels.
Quarterly Parent-Teacher Meetings
Choudhary said school quality should be assessed not only through infrastructure but also through teaching standards and the overall development of students.
He directed Model Schools to hold Parent-Teacher Meetings every three months to facilitate regular discussions between parents and teachers on students’ academic progress and requirements.
The chief minister also called for greater engagement with alumni, including regular meetings and mentorship programmes through which current students can benefit from their experiences and achievements.
Focus On JEE And NEET Preparation
Choudhary directed officials to provide talented students in Bihar with better guidance and academic resources to prepare for competitive examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
He said students studying in government schools should also have access to quality preparation opportunities for major national-level competitive examinations.
Digital Learning Platform To Be Strengthened
The chief minister also instructed officials to make the Bihar School Examination Board’s e-learning and 24×7 interactive digital learning platform more effective.
He called for wider use of digital learning resources to provide students with quality study material, subject-expert guidance and modern teaching tools.
The government also stressed that Education Department initiatives should translate into tangible benefits for students and that schools should not face shortages of necessary resources.
Officials Present At Review Meeting
Education Department Secretary Rajiv Roshan made a presentation on the academic systems and facilities in Model Schools.
Bihar School Examination Board Chairman Dr Thiyagarajan S.M. briefed the meeting on the board’s e-learning and 24×7 interactive digital learning platform.
Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Education Department Secretary Rajiv Roshan and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.
