New Delhi: A family reunion involving former Bihar chief minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s family on Raksha Bandhan has attracted attention in political circles, with his sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav seen together in Delhi.
Lalu’s daughters tied rakhis to both brothers during the celebrations. Misa Bharti, Chanda, Ragini, Hema, Anushka and Rajlakshmi Yadav were present, while Rohini Acharya was absent from the family gathering.
Tej Pratap, who is now the national president of the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), shared photographs of the celebrations on social media. Alongside the pictures, he wrote about the enduring bond between siblings, saying that although people grow older and circumstances change, childhood memories and sibling affection remain alive.
Family gathers in Delhi
Lalu, Rabri Devi, Misa and Tejashwi had reached Delhi from Patna on Thursday, a day before Raksha Bandhan.
Misa Bharti said that most of her sisters are married and live in and around Delhi, which is why the family traditionally gathers in the national capital to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.
The festival once again brought several members of the family together, but the absence of Rohini Acharya also drew attention.

Rohini Acharya remains absent
Rohini Acharya did not attend the family gathering. Reports cited in the account say she is currently in Singapore, although no specific reason for her absence from the Raksha Bandhan celebrations was given.
Her absence comes against the backdrop of a public fallout within the family following the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
After the RJD’s defeat in the election, Rohini had made serious allegations against Tejashwi and his associates, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez. She had also alleged mistreatment at the Rabri residence in Patna and subsequently distanced herself from Tejashwi.
Rohini has reportedly not returned to her parental home since then. However, when Lalu Prasad travelled to Singapore for a health check-up in May-June, he stayed with Rohini for several days.
Are Tej Pratap and Tejashwi relations improving?
The appearance of Tej Pratap and Tejashwi together has also renewed speculation about whether relations between the two brothers are improving.
Last year, Lalu had effectively distanced Tej Pratap from the family and the RJD. Tej Pratap subsequently launched the Janshakti Janata Dal and repeatedly criticised people close to Tejashwi, describing some of them as “Jaichands” or traitors.
The brothers have nevertheless been seen together on several occasions in recent months.
In May, Tej Pratap attended the birthday celebration of Tejashwi’s son, Iraj, in Ghaziabad and blessed his nephew.
Against this backdrop, their joint appearance during the Raksha Bandhan celebrations in Delhi has once again put the family’s internal dynamics under the political spotlight.
