Patna: Monsoon activity has weakened across Bihar, leading to a decline in heavy rainfall even as cloudy conditions, bright sunshine and high humidity continue to affect several parts of the state.
According to the Bihar Weather Forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre, Patna, most parts of the state are likely to remain cloudy over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms and lightning have been forecast in 11 districts, while isolated rainfall may occur in some areas.
A warning has been issued for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in East Champaran and West Champaran. Wind speeds of 30-40 kmph are also likely in 11 districts.
Weather to remain unsettled for next 2-3 days
The Meteorological Centre said the monsoon trough is extending from Ganganagar through Narnaul towards Tripura, while a low-pressure area is passing through Bihar, north Jharkhand, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and south Assam.
Under the combined influence of these weather systems, rainfall is likely at some places in different parts of Bihar over the next two to three days.
On Friday, scattered rainfall was recorded in Purnia, Sabour in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Supaul, Motihari and Madhepura, among other places.
Patna records 34.5°C
Humidity remained high in Patna and several other districts on Friday amid alternating spells of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures increased in 21 districts.
Patna’s maximum temperature rose by two degrees Celsius to 34.5°C. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 36.4°C in Bhabua, Kaimur.
The weather department has forecast fluctuations in temperatures over the coming days.
Araria records highest rainfall
During the past 24 hours, 51 mm of rainfall was recorded in Raniganj, Araria, the highest among the locations mentioned in the weather report. Patna’s Bikram recorded 22.8 mm of rainfall.

Rainfall was also recorded at several other locations, including Sanjhauli in Rohtas (30.2 mm), Revaghat in Muzaffarpur (30 mm), Chehrakala in Vaishali (28.2 mm), Samastipur (27.2 mm), Mansi in Katihar (25.4 mm), Araria (25.2 mm), Amour in Purnia (25.2 mm) and Dhamdaha in Purnia (24 mm).
Strong winds recorded in Vaishali
A wind speed of 37 kmph was recorded in Vaishali. The weather department has forecast winds of 30-40 kmph in 11 districts during the period.
People have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms, particularly in areas where lightning has been forecast.
