Purnia MP Pappu Yadav Seeks Z+ Security Following Threat from Lawrence Bishnoi Gang

BJP Leaders Mock Pappu Yadav’s Security Request Amid Death Threat Controversy

Patna: Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has requested Z+ security after receiving a death threat allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Yadav, who currently has Y category security, wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah on October 21, asking for heightened protection. Citing repeated threats from the gang, Yadav emphasised the need for stronger security measures.

SP Kartikeya Sharma confirmed receiving information about the threat to Yadav, stating that security around the MP has since been enhanced. Yadav’s current Y category protection includes 11 security personnel, though he seeks Z+ security, which would deploy a team of 36 guards, including over 10 NSG commandos and commandos from the Delhi Police, ITBP, or CRPF.

In India, security for high-risk individuals is categorised into six levels. SPG, provided only to the Prime Minister, ranks highest, followed by Z+ and Z security. Z category security includes 22 guards, including NSG commandos. The current Y security for Yadav includes two PSOs but lacks commando support.

The SPG, India’s top security group, was established in 1985 following former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination and is assigned solely to the Prime Minister and former Prime Ministers, representing the country’s most advanced protection unit.
