Patna: Gold prices have reached an all-time high on Dhanteras, with 10 grams of 24-carat gold now priced at ₹78,846—an increase of ₹601 from the previous rate of ₹78,245, according to India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA) data. Silver prices also saw a significant rise of ₹1,152, now standing at ₹97,238 per kilogram. This follows silver’s peak of ₹99,151 on October 23.
Gold prices vary across major cities, with the cost of 10 grams of 24-carat gold at ₹80,600 in Delhi, ₹80,450 in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, and ₹80,500 in Bhopal. The price of 22-carat gold per 10 grams is slightly lower, at ₹73,900 in Delhi, ₹73,750 in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, and ₹73,800 in Bhopal.
Analysts like Anuj Gupta, Commodity and Currency head at HDFC Securities, attribute the price surge to both festive demand and global geopolitical tensions. Projections suggest that gold could surpass₹79,000 by year-end and reach up to₹87,000 per 10 grams by Dhanteras next year.
Consumers are advised to purchase only certified gold with a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark. Hallmarked gold includes a 6-digit alphanumeric code called Hallmark Unique Identification Number (HUID), which verifies the purity of the gold.
