Electricity Company Server Failure Disrupts Recharge for 18 Lakh Consumers

Patna: A server failure at the electricity company has left around 18 lakh smart prepaid meter consumers in Patna and other district headquarters unable to recharge their accounts or access information about electricity consumption. The issue has persisted for five days, causing significant frustration among users.

Officials from the electricity company reported that a technical glitch occurred in the EESL server on Monday evening, leading to a complete shutdown. However, they assured consumers that there would be no electricity disconnections until the server issues were resolved. Once operational, users will be given time to settle any outstanding bills.

Energy Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal stated that efforts are underway to rectify the problem as quickly as possible. In the meantime, consumers are encouraged to use alternative methods to recharge their balances.

Online recharge options remain available via the electricity company’s websites, www.sbpdcl.co.in and www.nbpdcl.co.in. Additionally, consumers can recharge their smart prepaid meters at various division office counters. In Patna alone, more than five lakh consumers are facing difficulties due to the server failure.

Electricity company officials are working diligently to fix the technical faults and ensure that consumers can soon recharge and access their balances. They reiterated that power supply would not be affected by the server issue and that balances would only reflect correctly once the server is fully operational.
