Patna: Four film personalities associated with Bihar will receive national honours in different categories at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony on September 22, 2026.
Actor Sanjay Mishra, director Kamlesh Kumar Mishra, producer Minty Mishra and film critic Sanjeev Srivastava feature in the official list of awardees.
The ceremony will be held at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) in Gujarat, where President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards to the winners.
Sanjay Mishra Wins Best Supporting Actor
Actor Sanjay Mishra will receive the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Bhakshak.
Mishra, who hails from Bihar, played the character of Bhaskar Sinha in the film. He has been named the winner in the category in the official list of the 72nd National Film Awards.
‘Kakori’ Wins National Honour
Director Kamlesh Kumar Mishra and producer Minty Mishra, both from Singha village in Hathua block of Gopalganj, will also receive a National Film Award for their film Kakori.
The film has been selected for the award in the category of Best Biographical/Historical Reconstruction/Compilation Film.
Kamlesh Kumar Mishra has been credited as the director and Minty Mishra as the producer. Both will receive the Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus) and the designated cash prize for the category.
Kakori is based on the historic Kakori Train Action of 1925. During its production, information was gathered from historians as well as historical documents, old books and newspapers.
Sanjeev Srivastava Named Best Film Critic In Hindi
Film critic Sanjeev Srivastava, who hails from Muzaffarpur, has been named the winner of the National Film Award for Best Film Critic (Hindi).
He is the sole winner listed in the category by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Srivastava will receive the Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus) along with the designated cash prize.
Srivastava has been associated with journalism and film writing for nearly two and a half decades, working in film writing and criticism. According to his profile on TV9 Bharatvarsh, his ancestral home is in Sitamarhi, Bihar.
Awards To Be Presented On September 22
The 72nd National Film Awards recognise films and cinema-related work released in 2024.
This year, the awards ceremony is being held at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) in Gujarat instead of Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards on September 22.
The selection of four people associated with Bihar across acting, direction, production and film criticism marks a significant presence for the state’s film fraternity at the national awards.
