Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of the Chhath Ghats in preparation for the upcoming Chhath Mahaparva 2024, a significant festival celebrated with great devotion. He assessed various Ganga Ghats, travelling by steamer from Nasriganj Ghat to Kagan Ghat. During the visit, the Chief Minister provided crucial directives to officials regarding cleanliness, security, and overall maintenance of the Ghats.

Kumar emphasised the importance of ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place for Chhath devotees to offer Arghya without any issues. He highlighted the need for strong security measures at the Ghats, taking into account the water level and flow of the Ganga River. The Chief Minister instructed that robust barricading be installed near the Ghats, as well as along approach paths and roads adjacent to the river to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees.

Additionally, he stressed the necessity of keeping pilgrims informed about the arrangements at the Chhath Ghats through public announcements. Traffic management for the smooth commute of Chhath devotees was also a key point in his instructions, ensuring that there would be no inconvenience in reaching the Ghats. He reiterated the need for comprehensive cleanliness measures at the sites.

Accompanying the Chief Minister during the inspection were Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, along with other senior officials, including the Director General of Police Alok Raj and Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit. Their collective presence underscored the government’s commitment to facilitating a smooth and safe Chhath celebration for the devotees.
