Patna: Anil Yadav, husband of a Patna Municipal Corporation councillor, was shot around five times by two motorcycle-borne assailants in the Buddha Colony police station area.
According to reports, Yadav was sitting in the basement of his apartment complex with some supporters when the two men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly opened rapid fire at him.
Yadav sustained multiple bullet injuries and was taken to Udyan Hospital in Patna, where he is undergoing treatment and remains under medical supervision.
Gunfire Triggers Panic
The shooting took place in a residential area, triggering panic among local residents.
A girls’ hostel is located on the first floor of the apartment building where the incident occurred. The gunfire reportedly caused panic among residents and those staying at the hostel.
Locals said the assailants fled the scene after the shooting while brandishing weapons.
Police from Buddha Colony police station reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Officers inspected the scene and questioned local residents.
CCTV Footage Under Scrutiny
Police are collecting evidence from the scene and examining CCTV footage from the apartment complex and surrounding areas to identify the attackers.
Krishna Murari Prasad, ASP (Law and Order), said: “A police team arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident. The entire matter is being investigated. Footage from CCTV cameras at the scene and in the surrounding areas is being scrutinised. Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators based on this footage. The police are also conducting raids at suspected hideouts to apprehend the attackers.”
Police Probe Possible Motive
Yadav is a former councillor representing Ward 24 of the Patna Municipal Corporation, while his wife is the current councillor.
According to the information provided, Yadav’s son was also shot dead a few days ago.
The latest attack has prompted police to examine all possible angles. Investigators are gathering information about the motive, including the possibility of old enmity.
Police deployment has been increased in the area as the investigation continues.
