Samastipur/Patna: Police have launched an investigation after a video purportedly showing a young woman being harassed by a group of youths on Bandh Bypass Road in Jagatsinghpur village, under Karpurigram police station, went viral on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the girl had stopped on the roadside with a male friend to take photographs when three youths allegedly surrounded her.
The youths allegedly abused the woman, dragged her along the road and subjected her to inappropriate physical contact while repeatedly asking for her name and address.
Police Verify Viral Footage
The video triggered action from the police department after it circulated on social media.
Samastipur SP Arvind Pratap Singh directed officials to verify the authenticity of the footage and identify those involved.
Police have reportedly identified two of the youths seen in the video and are searching for the others.
The police are examining the footage as part of the investigation. The viral video has not been independently verified.
Woman Appears To Resist
According to the reports, the woman can be seen attempting to free herself as the youths allegedly prevent her from leaving.
The incident reportedly occurred in broad daylight, with the video apparently recorded by someone present at the location before being circulated on social media.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and working to establish the identities and roles of those involved.
