Patna: In a momentous development at the 10th Indian Horticultural Congress-2023, held in Guwahati, Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) and Assam Agricultural University (AAU) have formalized a Non-Financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing ceremony took place on Monday, and was attended by eminent dignitaries.
The primary focus of this MoU is to enhance the quality of education and training in agriculture and allied sectors, with a special emphasis on horticultural crops like tea. It will also facilitate joint agricultural and horticultural research endeavors in areas of mutual interest.
The MoU was inked by Dr. D.R. Singh, Vice Chancellor of BAU Sabour, and Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Vice Chancellor of AAU, Jorhat. Notably, Atul Bora, the Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Processing, and Animal Husbandry of Assam, graced the occasion with his presence. The event also saw the participation of esteemed guests, including Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Vice President of the Indian Association of Horticultural Sciences (IAHS); Dr. K.L. Chadha, Chairman of IAHS; Dr. H.S. Gupta, Chairman of the Assam Agriculture Commission; and Dr. V.B. Patel, Additional Director General (Fruits and Plantation Crops), among others.
Dr. D.R. Singh, the Vice Chancellor of BAU, shared his enthusiasm about this significant collaboration, stating, “This agreement with Assam Agricultural University will provide mutual cooperation in agricultural research, teaching, and training in both states. Specifically, in Bihar, it will advance research and studies in tea horticulture.”
This strategic partnership between Bihar Agricultural University and Assam Agricultural University holds the promise of fostering innovation and knowledge exchange in the field of agriculture, benefiting not only the two states but also contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector on a national scale.
