Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its door-to-door campaign to identify properties, verify tax details and recover outstanding property tax.
According to the civic body’s review, Patna Zoo has the highest outstanding property tax among government institutions, with dues of Rs 9.88 crore.
Other major government property tax defaulters include BUIDCO with Rs 3.09 crore, the Divisional Commissioner’s Office with Rs 3.77 crore, the District Magistrate’s Office with Rs 2.01 crore, properties under the Secondary Education Department with Rs 3.19 crore and CGST-related properties with Rs 3.78 crore.
The municipal corporation is coordinating with the concerned government departments to facilitate payment of the outstanding amounts.
Five Private Properties Owe Nearly Rs 1.94 Crore
The campaign has also identified five major private properties with combined outstanding property tax of around Rs 1.94 crore. Four of these properties fall under the Patliputra circle and one under the Nutan Rajdhani circle.
The five major private defaulters listed by the corporation are:
- Utkarsh Sphatik Limited, Ward 27: Rs 65.48 lakh
- Virendra Kumar, Sujata Devi, Vinita Devi, Paras Nath and Sumitra Devi, Ward 2: Rs 45.86 lakh
- Samudri Devi, Ward 2: Rs 36.91 lakh
- Sukant Kumar Mishra, Ward 1: Rs 24.56 lakh
- Shankar Kumar and Nutan Kumari, Ward 13: Rs 21.45 lakh
Record 193 Properties Assessed in a Single Day
The civic body also carried out a record 193 new property tax assessments in one day.
During the door-to-door campaign across all six municipal circles, more than 700 properties yielded around Rs 56.55 lakh in property tax collections.
The campaign teams are visiting property owners to verify information and facilitate tax-related processes. As part of the exercise, 55 property owners opted for self-reassessment, while 23 properties underwent reassessment with penalties.
Rs 56.55 Lakh Collected Across Six Circles
The property tax collection reported from the six circles was:
- Azimabad: Rs 4.79 lakh from 132 properties
- Bankipur: Rs 7.42 lakh from 96 properties
- Kankarbagh: Rs 7.42 lakh from 120 properties
- Nutan Rajdhani: Rs 18.70 lakh from 147 properties
- Patliputra: Rs 13.18 lakh from 156 properties
- Patna City: Rs 5.02 lakh from 56 properties
Property Owners Can Seek Help With Tax Assessment
Property owners can now also seek assistance from municipal officials for tax assessment.
The municipal corporation has made the contact numbers of the Executive Officer and Revenue Officer public. Property owners can call for guidance if they face difficulties with the assessment process.
If a property has not yet undergone tax assessment or reassessment, or if property tax remains outstanding, owners can complete the process online through the Patna Municipal Corporation’s website.
