Patna: The 82nd Annual General Meeting of the Bihar Industries Association (BIA) was held at the association’s premises on Friday, with members electing five office-bearers and 29 members to the Executive Council for the 2026-27 term.
Except for the two Vice-President (General Category) posts, all office-bearers and Executive Council members were elected unopposed.
Incumbent President Ram Lal Khetan was re-elected unopposed for the 2026-27 term.
Khetan has previously served as BIA treasurer from 2005-07, general secretary from 2008-10, vice-president from 2011-13 and president during 2015-17, 2019-21 and 2025-26.
Basudev Prasad, Dev Prakash Singh Elected Vice-Presidents
Three candidates contested the two Vice-President (General Category) posts.
Basudev Prasad received 247 votes, Dev Prakash Singh secured 237 votes and Sachchidanand Singh received 46 votes.
Based on the results, Basudev Prasad and Dev Prakash Singh were elected as Vice-Presidents (General Category).
Hemant Raj was elected unopposed as Vice-President (Commissionery Category).
Manish Kumar and Alok Poddar were elected unopposed as General Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
21 Executive Council Members Elected Unopposed
All 21 seats in the Executive Council (General Category) were filled unopposed.

The association also has one reserved Executive Council seat for each division.
Candidates from eight divisions — Patna, Magadh, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Tirhut, Saran, Kosi and Purnia — were elected unopposed.

- Magadh: Pramod Kumar Bhadani
- Bhagalpur: Nitesh Santhalia
- Darbhanga: M. M. Chandana
- Tirhut: R. K. Chaudhary
- Saran: Md. Mansoor Alam

- Purnia: Rupesh Kumar Singh
No nomination was filed for the Munger division seat. The seat therefore remains vacant and will be filled later through nomination by the newly constituted Executive Council.
Resolutions On Industry And Policy
During the general meeting, members passed resolutions concerning industries, energy, BIADA, taxation, environment and tourism.
The resolutions included industry-related demands and suggestions addressed to both the state and central governments, with a focus on industrial development in Bihar.
