Patna: The southwest monsoon remains active over Bihar, with the Patna Meteorological Centre forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds in several parts of the state on Sunday, September 27.
The weather department has issued a warning for very heavy rainfall in East Champaran, West Champaran and Gopalganj, while heavy rain is likely in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Siwan and Vaishali.
Very Heavy Rain Likely In Three Districts
According to the weather department, East Champaran, West Champaran and Gopalganj may receive very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are also likely in these areas.
Patna And Other Districts May Receive Heavy Rain
Heavy rainfall is also expected in Muzaffarpur, Patna, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Siwan and Vaishali.
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorms and avoid exposed areas during lightning activity.
Heavy Rain Recorded In Several Areas
During the 24 hours preceding the forecast, several parts of Bihar received light to moderate rainfall, while Jhanjharpur in Madhubani and Parbatta in Khagaria recorded 68.8 mm of rainfall each.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded at 31.6°C in Bhabua, Kaimur, while Valmikinagar in West Champaran recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 21°C.
The strongest wind during the period was recorded in Bhojpur at 68 kmph.
Weather System Moving Towards Weakening
The current weather conditions are being influenced by a low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh. The system is moving in a north-northwest direction and is likely to weaken during the next 12 hours.
According to the forecast, there is likely to be no major change in maximum temperatures during the next two days. After that, temperatures may rise by around 3–5°C.
Relief Likely From September 27
The weather department has indicated no major warning between September 27 and October 2, suggesting that rainfall activity may gradually weaken after the current spell.
However, isolated showers may continue in some areas as the weather pattern transitions towards more stable conditions.
