Patna: Bihar’s ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ campaign, a key environmental initiative championed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was hailed for its global recognition during a ceremony marking ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ Day. The Information and Public Relations Minister, Maheshwar Hazari, addressed the gathering at Information Bhawan, praising the Chief Minister’s foresight in launching a campaign that aims to safeguard both present and future generations by addressing climate change and environmental conservation.
The event, organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, brought together nodal officers from various departments to discuss the progress of the campaign. Hazari highlighted the broad and multidimensional nature of the initiative, which focuses on preserving water resources, promoting green cover, and enhancing public awareness about sustainability. The minister emphasised efforts to restore water-harvesting structures like ponds and lakes across the state, develop new water sources, and promote solar energy and tree plantations.
“Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali is not just a program; it is essential for humanity’s future,” said Hazari, urging officers to expedite the campaign to realise Chief Minister Kumar’s vision.
Vaibhav Shrivastava, Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, noted that the campaign has already shown positive results, with improved groundwater levels and increased green cover across Bihar. He assured the department’s commitment to further promoting the campaign to reach the general public.
Mission Director Pratibha Rani spoke on the campaign’s accelerated pace, applauding the collaboration between various departments and confirming that adequate funds had been secured to support the initiative’s goals. Representatives from multiple departments, including the Environment, Energy, and Panchayati Raj, also provided updates on their contributions to the campaign.
The event concluded with a tree-planting ceremony in the Soochna Bhawan premises, symbolising the continued commitment to Bihar’s environmental sustainability.
