Devotees observe Kharna Puja on second day of Chhath, begin 36-hour fast

Patna: Chhath celebrations continued across Bihar today, with devotees observing the second day of the revered Chhath Mahaparva by performing the Kharna Puja and beginning a 36-hour fast. The ritual, marked by a day-long fast followed by a special meal, saw worshippers preparing prasad in honor of the Sun God, Lord Bhaskar.

In the morning, devotees bathed in rivers and ponds, carrying sacred water back to their homes to prepare the Kharna prasad. The offering, consisting of jaggery-rice kheer and roti, was made with reverence before being shared with family and friends.

This year, Kharna Puja has taken place under the auspicious Moola Nakshatra, a combination in Vedic astrology that includes Sukarma Yoga with Purvashada Nakshatra. Worshippers believe that performing Kharna in this alignment brings happiness, prosperity, and health benefits to their households. Many devotees are observing the occasion with deep faith, hopeful for special blessings in this auspicious period.
