Patna: As November begins, residents of Bihar are unlikely to see any significant change in the weather, with humid heat expected to persist until the end of the month. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), severe cold is not forecast until the first week of December, although night temperatures will gradually drop in the coming days.
There is no rain predicted for the state this week, with dry weather expected to continue across districts including Patna, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur.
In addition to the lingering heat, air quality has become a growing concern. Seven districts in Bihar have seen their Air Quality Index (AQI) levels exceed 100, indicating poor air conditions. Muzaffarpur recorded the highest AQI at 211, followed by Patna at 178, Siwan at 176, Katihar at 171, Hajipur at 162, and both Purnia and Kishanganj at 151.
Meteorologist SK Patel confirmed that the last 24 hours have remained dry, with temperatures staying above normal. “There is no sign of cold yet,” he said, noting that typically, mild cold sets in across Bihar by late October. The delay in the onset of cold weather is being attributed to the absence of strong western disturbances in the mountainous regions of North India.
This late arrival of cold weather mirrors the delayed monsoon, which also reached Bihar four days later than its scheduled time earlier this year.
