Patna : The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) of Bihar has identified evidence of assets worth more than Rs 3.12 crore during searches at four locations linked to Gopalganj Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Rajeshwari Pandey in a disproportionate assets case.

According to the reported findings, around Rs 2.5 crore in assets has been assessed as disproportionate to her known sources of income, amounting to approximately 135% above her lawful income.

The searches were conducted on Friday at locations in Patna, Rohtas and Gopalganj. Investigators reportedly found documents relating to 12 land parcels and flats, 35 bank accounts, financial investments, fixed deposits, cash and jewellery.

12 Land And Flat Purchases Worth Rs 1.32 Crore

During the searches, investigators reportedly found documents relating to 12 land parcels and flats in Patna, Varanasi, Sasaram and Rohtas.

The properties, registered in the names of the ADM, her wife and her son, were valued at approximately Rs 1.32 crore, according to the report.

One of the properties identified was a flat at Bhawani City Apartment near RPS School in the Rupaspur area of Patna. The SVU also searched the flat during the operation.

Investigators are examining the property documents to assess the assets and their relevance to the allegations.

35 Bank Accounts Hold Rs 1.49 Crore

The searches reportedly led to the identification of 35 bank accounts containing a combined Rs 1,49,17,400.

The accounts were held with several banks, including the State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, HDFC Bank and Central Bank of India.

Investigators also reportedly found investments in insurance policies, shares and mutual funds. These included investments linked to LIC, SBI Life Insurance, Adani Power, Hubtown and Hindustan Unilever.

Documents relating to fixed deposits worth approximately Rs 8.5 lakh were also found.

Rs 1.85 Lakh Cash And Jewellery Worth Rs 32 Lakh

The SVU reportedly recovered Rs 1.85 lakh in cash during the searches.

Gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 32 lakh was also found, according to the report.

Investigators are assessing these findings alongside bank deposits, investment records and property documents as part of the wider inquiry.

Assets Worth More Than Rs 3.12 Crore Under Scrutiny

According to the reported investigation findings, evidence collected during the searches points to total movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 3.12 crore. Of this amount, approximately Rs 2.5 crore has been assessed as disproportionate to known income.

The reported assessment puts the alleged excess at 135% above the officer’s lawful income. Investigators will examine financial records and other documents to establish the basis of the allegations.

The overall assessment may change as the investigation progresses and the seized records are scrutinised.

Four Locations Searched Across Three Districts

The SVU conducted searches at four locations linked to the ADM:

  • Patna: Flat A-206 at Bhawani City Apartment near RPS School in Rupaspur.
  • Rohtas: An ancestral house in Thorsan village in the Karghar area.
  • Gopalganj: The ADM’s office at the district collectorate.
  • Gopalganj: The officer’s government residence.

The search at the ancestral property in Thorsan village was reportedly continuing late on Friday. Officials indicated that further findings could emerge as the operation and assessment continued.

FIR Registered In Disproportionate Assets Case

According to the report, the ADM entered government service in 2010 and had completed around 16 years in service.

An FIR has been registered in connection with the disproportionate assets allegations.

SVU Additional Director General of Police Sudhanshu Kumar said searches were conducted at four locations after the case was registered and that assets worth around Rs 2.5 crore above known income had been identified.

The investigation remains ongoing. The figures reported so far represent investigative findings and assessments; the allegations have not been established by a final judicial determination.
