Patna : Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced plans to improve government school infrastructure by March 2027, alongside a teacher-training initiative aimed at strengthening the quality of education across the state.
Speaking at a programme at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna on Saturday, the chief minister said the government was working to provide students with better school buildings, boundary walls and basic facilities.
He also announced plans to select 200 teachers — 100 from schools and 100 from colleges — for training at international institutions to help them learn modern teaching methods.
The programme was attended by Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari and other officials.
Mission Kayakalp Targets School Upgrades By March 2027
Choudhary said infrastructure improvements were underway under the state government’s Mission Kayakalp initiative.
The work includes constructing school buildings and boundary walls and providing basic facilities such as fans. The aim is to create better-equipped and more organised learning environments for students.
The chief minister set March 2027 as the target for improving school facilities. He said the government wanted children returning to school after March to find better infrastructure and improved amenities.
The extent to which the target is achieved will depend on the timely completion of construction and the provision of the planned facilities across schools.
200 Teachers To Receive International Training
The chief minister announced that 100 school teachers and 100 college teachers would be selected for training at international institutions.
The programme is intended to familiarise teachers with modern teaching approaches and help improve classroom instruction.
Choudhary said students should have opportunities to learn through understanding rather than relying only on rote memorisation.
The proposed training is expected to support this shift by strengthening teachers’ skills and introducing approaches that encourage conceptual learning.
Further details about the institutions, selection criteria, training duration and implementation schedule were not specified in the reported announcement.
Education Department Budget At Rs 78,000 Crore
During the programme, Choudhary said the state was spending approximately Rs 78,000 crore on the Education Department, accounting for around 23% of Bihar’s total budget, according to his remarks.
The spending reflects the scale of the state’s education allocation as the government pursues improvements in infrastructure and teaching quality.
The announcement covered both physical facilities in schools and efforts to strengthen the skills of teachers. These measures are intended to improve the learning environment alongside the delivery of education.
Employment Target Mentioned For 2030
Choudhary also referred to employment generation, mentioning a target for providing employment opportunities by 2030.
However, the reported announcement did not specify the number of jobs planned or provide details about the sectors and implementation measures associated with the target.
Focus On Infrastructure And Teaching Quality
The proposed changes combine school infrastructure improvements with a plan to provide specialised training to teachers.
Under Mission Kayakalp, the government aims to improve school buildings and basic facilities, while the international training initiative is intended to strengthen teaching practices.
The impact of these measures will depend on their implementation, the completion of infrastructure work within the stated timeline and the extent to which teachers can apply their training in classrooms.
March 2027 will be a key deadline for assessing progress on the announced school upgrades, while further details will be needed to understand how the proposed training programme will be implemented and evaluated.
