Begusarai : A woman doctor was allegedly targeted in an acid attack in the Harakh locality under the Town police station area of Begusarai district on the night of October 12. Police have arrested a man in connection with the incident.
The doctor, who runs Lakshya Hospital in the Pokharia locality, sustained minor injuries after a bottle containing acid was allegedly thrown at her while she was returning home after completing her hospital duty.
Doctor Receives Treatment For Minor Injuries
According to the initial report, the incident occurred as the doctor was entering the Harakh locality. A bottle was allegedly thrown at her from behind but fell to the ground. Acid splashed from the bottle onto her body, causing minor injuries.
She was taken to Begusarai Sadar Hospital, where she received initial treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Police officials visited the scene after receiving information about the incident and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Doctor Alleges Three Months Of Stalking
In her statement to the police, the doctor alleged that the accused had been following her for around three months and secretly taking photographs of her using a mobile phone.
According to the report, the arrested man operated a shop next to the doctor’s hospital. Police are investigating the alleged stalking and the circumstances that led to the attack.
Police Confirm Arrest, Investigate Motive
Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police-1 Prashant Kumar confirmed the arrest and said police were examining different aspects of the case.
The report also mentioned an alleged long-standing family dispute involving the doctor’s husband. However, no direct connection between that dispute and the attack has been established, and the matter remains under investigation.
Security Provided To Doctor
Following the incident, police provided a security guard to the doctor. Female police personnel have also been deployed at the hospital, according to the report.
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining the circumstances and possible motive behind the alleged attack. Further legal proceedings are expected to follow.
