Muzaffarpur: Muzaffarpur Police has launched a free night bus service to help passengers arriving at the railway station late at night during the festive season reach their destinations safely. The service will operate in two phases, covering Durga Puja from October 14 to 22 and Diwali and Chhath Puja from November 6 to 17.
The buses will operate daily between 10 pm and 6 am, starting from Muzaffarpur Junction and passing through Bairiya Bus Stand before following designated routes.
The first route will cover Chandni Chowk, Zero Mile, Kanti, Motipur, Baruraj, Sahebganj and Saraiya. The second route will pass through Maripur, Gobarsahi, Ramdayalu, Aghoria Bazaar, Bhagwanpur, Kachchi-Pakki and Majhaulia before returning to the railway station.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kantesh Kumar Mishra inaugurated the service by flagging off the buses at a programme held near the Police Lines.
Mishra said the police remained committed to public safety and assistance, adding that the department was prepared to ensure that passengers did not face inconvenience during the festive season.
He also said feedback would be collected from passengers using the service to identify areas for improvement and make the initiative more effective.
The initiative aims to provide safer late-night travel options for passengers arriving in Muzaffarpur by train during the festive rush.
