Chhath And Diwali Rush: East Central Railway Bolsters Services with 75 Additional Festival Special Trains, Providing 1.5 Lakh Berths

Hajipur, 8th November 2023: In response to the festive season’s high demand, East Central Railway is operating a total of 75 pairs of festival special trains for Diwali and Chhath celebrations.

These trains, originating and terminating within the East Central Railway jurisdiction, will make a total of 1131 trips, providing a significant boost to passenger convenience.

Compared to the previous year, this marks an increase, with a total of 01 lakh 50 thousand berths made available for passengers. Last year, 60 pairs of festival special trains operated, totaling 696 trips and providing 01 lakh 05 thousand berths.

In addition to the trains originating within East Central Railway, 19 festival special trains passing through the jurisdiction from other zonal railways are also in operation. These trains will make 222 trips, offering berths to more than 20 thousand passengers. This is a considerable increase from the previous year when the same number of trains made 100 trips, accommodating around 10 thousand passengers.

To further cater to the festive rush, plans are underway to introduce several more festival special trains, with notifications expected to be issued soon. The additional trains aim to ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers during the festive season.
