Patna: In the last 24 hours, 41 new dengue cases and 5 cases of Chikungunya have been reported in Patna. This brings the total number of dengue cases in the city to 4,686 and Chikungunya cases to 379 this season. Dengue has claimed 15 lives in the capital so far. The disease is caused by the bite of the Aedes mosquito.

The latest dengue cases are distributed across multiple areas, including 4 cases each in Kankarbagh and Bankipur, 12 in Nutan Rajdhani, 7 in Patliputra Zone, 1 each in Azimabad, Patna City, Masaurhi, Athmalgola, and Mokama, 3 in Phulwari, and 2 in Sampatchak.

Amid the rising cases, doctors have urged residents to stay vigilant and prevent water accumulation in and around their homes, as stagnant water serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. If water cannot be removed, pouring kerosene into it is recommended.

People experiencing symptoms of dengue or Chikungunya are advised to get tested promptly. Testing facilities are available free of charge at government hospitals across the city, ensuring accessibility for all.
