Additional Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit Reviews PMCH Expansion as Medical Equipment Supply Begins

Patna: Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) is moving closer to operationalizing its expanded infrastructure, with the supply of medical equipment now underway. Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyaya Amrit, inspected the facility on Friday and held a review meeting with hospital department heads, as well as officials from BMICL and the construction company responsible for the project.

During the meeting, Amrit directed hospital officials to submit a comprehensive list of required medical equipment by April 2, ensuring a smooth rollout of the 2,250 beds planned under the first phase. He emphasized the importance of timely procurement and installation, stating that the hospital’s expansion would set new benchmarks in healthcare delivery.

Under his supervision, PMCH’s two newly constructed towers, which house 1,050 beds, are set to become operational within a month. These towers will include 65 ICU beds, 44 post-ICU beds, 10 deluxe rooms, 100 private rooms, and two suite rooms. Medical equipment for outpatient and emergency services in 10 departments is being supplied by L&T at a cost of Rs 160 crore.

Amrit also outlined the broader vision for PMCH’s transformation, noting that Rs 329.9 crore is being invested in equipping 2,250 beds across four towers in the first phase. He reiterated that the state government is committed to making PMCH a premier medical institution, ensuring world-class treatment facilities for patients.
