Agencies To Be Selected By April for Three Five-Star Hotels in Patna

Patna: Patna’s hospitality sector is poised for a major boost as the Infrastructure Development Authority has given the green light for the construction of three new five-star hotels. This development is expected to significantly enhance the city’s tourism infrastructure and create thousands of jobs.

The selection process for the agency responsible for the construction and operation of these hotels, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, is scheduled to be completed by the first week of April. Notably, approximately 150 major hotel operators, including industry giants like ITC and Hotel Taj, have expressed keen interest in the projects.

The hotels will be developed at three prime locations:

  • Hotel Patliputra Ashok: A 100-room hotel will be constructed on 1.50 acres of land.
  • Bankipur Bus Stand: A 150-room hotel will be built on 3.24 acres of land.
  • Sultan Palace: A 150-room heritage hotel will be established on 4.89 acres of land, with careful preservation of the existing historical structure.

This initiative represents a revised plan from the Tourism Department’s initial proposal in June 2022. While the original plan envisioned 1,075 rooms across the three locations, the current project will focus on constructing approximately 400 rooms. Furthermore, the lease period has been extended from 45 years to 90 years.

Economic Impact and Job Creation:

The construction and operation of these five-star hotels are projected to have a substantial positive impact on the local economy. Tourism experts anticipate that a 100-room five-star hotel can generate approximately 300 direct jobs. Therefore, with a total of 400 rooms across the three hotels, around 1,000 direct employment opportunities are expected. Additionally, the project is estimated to create approximately 10,000 indirect jobs in related sectors, including tour and travel, tourist guidance, and other ancillary services.
