AIIMS Patna Brings Together Medical Experts to Advance Interventional Radiology Awareness

Patna: The Annual Conference of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA), in collaboration with the ISVIR State Chapter of Chandigarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, was successfully held on the 11th and 12th of January 2025 at the AIIMS Patna Auditorium. The conference was organized by the Department of Radiology, AIIMS Patna, with the theme focused on Interventional Radiology.

The conference was chaired by Dr. Rajeev Priyadarshi, Head of Radiology, AIIMS Patna, and Dr. Naveen Kalra, while Dr. Upasana Sinha and Dr. Chirag Ahuja served as secretaries. The event saw participation from over 12 distinguished faculty members from PGIMER Chandigarh, AIIMS New Delhi, and SGPGI Lucknow, along with more than 200 delegates from various medical colleges and institutions across the country.

Interventional Radiology is a revolutionary branch of medicine that uses image-guided and minimally invasive techniques to treat complex conditions such as liver tumors and vascular diseases. This approach offers significant advantages over traditional surgeries, including reduced risk, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stays. However, awareness about this advanced specialty remains limited among the general public and many practicing physicians. This conference aimed to bridge this gap by increasing awareness and encouraging the adoption of modern techniques in clinical practice.

The conference included hands-on workshops and ‘How I Do It’ sessions, where experts provided practical training and insights into the latest advancements in interventional radiology. This event proved to be a significant step in raising awareness about interventional radiology and advancing healthcare outcomes through modern innovations.
