Bihar: A delegation of 11 BPSC candidates met Governor Arif Mohammed Khan today to discuss the ongoing dispute over the 70th BPSC PT exam and to explore potential resolutions to end Prashant Kishore’s ongoing fast.
The Governor initiated the meeting, inviting a delegation of PK’s supporters to Raj Bhawan for discussions. Prior to the meeting, a gathering was held at Prashant Kishor’s residence, Sheikhpura House in Patna, where the 11 students were briefed.
However, constitutional expert PDT Acharya opined that this intervention falls outside the Governor’s purview.
“It is not the governor’s responsibility to summon individuals engaged in hunger strikes to Raj Bhawan for discussions,” stated Acharya. “The appropriate course of action for the Governor would be to convey their concerns to the government if they believe any wrongdoing has occurred.”
Acharya emphasised that the government retains the authority to make decisions on this matter. “The Governor’s role is primarily ceremonial; they act upon the instructions of the government,” he explained.
Despite the Governor’s intervention, Prashant Kishore affirmed that his fast would continue.
“My fast remains ongoing,” PK stated. “I will inform you all when I decide to break it.”
Prashant Kishore has been on a hunger strike since January 2, demanding the cancellation of the BPSC 70th PT exam and other related demands.
On January 12 the police removed a tent that was being set up by Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj organization near Marine Drive in Patna.
The key demands of the BPSC candidates include the cancellation of the PT exam and the conduct of a fresh examination to ensure fairness for all candidates.
