Patna: A workshop on the Trauma Quality Improvement Programme, an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded project aimed at enhancing trauma care outcomes in tertiary hospitals, was held at AIIMS Patna. The initiative seeks to identify and address deficiencies in trauma care practices across India, with AIIMS Patna among the eight sites selected for implementation.
The project, launched a year ago, has received a total funding of Rs 6 crore, with Rs 65 lakh allocated to AIIMS Patna. The workshop was inaugurated by AIIMS Patna’s executive director, Dr. Saurabh Varshanay, in the presence of key faculty members, including Dr. Ruchi Sinha, dean (academics); Dr. Sanjay Pandey, dean (research); Dr. Punam Prasad Bhadani, dean (students’ affairs); and Dr. Aup Kumar, medical superintendent. Faculty from the trauma surgery and critical care department, including head of department Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Anurag Kumar, Dr. Majid Anwer, and Dr. Rekha Kumari, were also present.
Experts from the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Center at AIIMS New Delhi—Prof. (Dr.) Amit Gupta, Dr. Dinesh Bagaria, Dr. Ankita Sharma, and Dr. Khusboo Jain—led the workshop as resource persons. More than 40 delegates, including faculty, residents, nursing officers, and other stakeholders, participated in the session.
Prof. (Dr.) Amit Gupta praised the enthusiasm and engagement of participants at AIIMS Patna, expressing confidence that the workshop would contribute to significant improvements in trauma care. He hoped to see measurable progress in trauma management outcomes at the institution in the near future.
